Motorhome Tracker and Alarm Fitting for Fiat Ducato in Cannock

Keep a Fiat Ducato motorhome on the drive in Cannock? The S5 and S7 trackers and motorhome alarms we fit, and why the months before Easter matter.

A motorhome built on a Fiat Ducato spends most of the year doing nothing. Around Cannock, Hednesford and Heath Hayes, plenty of them live on driveways or beside houses between trips, loaded with bedding, kitchen kit and sometimes bikes. That's the problem: a vehicle that's parked for weeks at a time, worth a great deal and rarely checked, is exactly what a tracker and an alarm are for.

The local picture, and the seasonal one

Cannock Chase is one of the quieter areas we cover for vehicle crime. Official police recorded crime shows 420 vehicle offences in Cannock Chase in the year ending March 2026, a rate of 4.0 per 1,000 people, below the England and Wales average of 5.1 and down 15% on the year before (ONS police force area data tables). Those figures cover theft of and from vehicles and interference.

A low rate doesn't mean no risk, and leisure vehicles have their own pattern. There are no current official totals for motorhome theft, but spring is the obvious pressure point: in the run-up to Easter, motorhomes are prepared, serviced and ready to go, for their owners and for anyone else. If you're thinking about security, the quiet winter months are the time to sort it.

How motorhomes are usually targeted

At a high level, a motorhome faces two kinds of threat. The base vehicle can be driven away, using the same electronic methods thieves use on vans, such as programming a key through the diagnostic port. And the habitation area and lockers can be broken into for what's inside, whether or not the vehicle is taken. A tracker helps with the first; an alarm helps with the second.

Tracking: S7 or S5?

If your insurer has asked for a tracker, the policy wording decides which Thatcham category you need. Check the wording before choosing.

  • Meta Trak S7 ATS: Thatcham S7, insurance approved and monitored 24/7 by a Secure Operating Centre linked to police control rooms once a theft is reported. There's no tag to carry. Meta Trak publishes £119.95 a year, or £329.95 for 3 years.
  • Meta Trak S5 VTS: Thatcham S5, adding a driver ID tag. If the motorhome moves without the tag, the monitoring centre knows straight away. Meta Trak publishes £189.95 a year, or £499.95 for 3 years.
  • Meta Trak Deadlock: the same S5 tracking with no-tag-no-start immobilisation. Meta Trak lists it for motorhomes.

Scorpion also offers its ScorpionTrack S5-VTS and S7-ALS for motorhomes, both with 24/7 monitoring and police liaison. Our S5 or S7 guide explains the categories in more depth.

The Meta Trak app is useful on a vehicle that sits still for weeks: movement and tow alerts, battery alerts and geofences mean you hear about it if the motorhome moves from the drive or its battery is disconnected.

Alarms for the habitation area

A tracker tells you where the motorhome is. An alarm protects what's in it and makes noise while someone is trying.

  • Scorpion S34 Alarm: a Thatcham Category 2-1 upgrade alarm with extra radio remotes, suited to motorhomes.
  • Scorpion S37 CAN-Bus Alarm: a Thatcham Category 2-1 alarm with a built-in receiver for wireless sensors, so habitation areas and lockers can be protected too.

Some owners pair a tracker with an alarm so they have both deterrence and recovery. We'll talk through what makes sense for your layout.

Motorhome questions

Can you fit it where the motorhome is stored?

Yes. We come to the vehicle, whether it's on your drive in Cannock or Rugeley or at a storage site, as long as we can get access to it.

Does it matter that it's a Fiat Ducato base?

The base vehicle and year decide which systems fit and where they go, and the coachbuilder's layout matters for alarms. We confirm compatibility for your exact motorhome before quoting.

Will a tracker reduce my insurance?

We can't promise that. Insurers treat trackers differently, and your policy wording decides what counts. Send it to us and we'll match the system to it.
