01 · Overview

Back in control of the car.

Spare keys, remote reprogramming, non-destructive entry and all-keys-lost recovery—completed at the vehicle.

Most car key problems don't need a trip to the dealer. We carry the equipment to cut and program keys at the car, whether it's on your drive, in a work car park or at the roadside.

That covers everything from a spare, for peace of mind, to the day every key has gone. Where a car is locked, we open it without damage using specialist entry tools. When keys are lost, we remove them from the car's memory so they no longer work.

Keys are only made for the owner or registered keeper, so we'll ask to see the V5C logbook and photo ID before any entry or programming work.

Locked out or lost a key?

Call or WhatsApp with the make, model and year and where the car is. We'll tell you what's possible and what it costs before we set off.

03 · Quick quote

A key quote in a minute.

Your reg, the kind of key and what's happened. We'll check what your car needs and call or text you back with a fixed price.

Call-outs Mon–Sat 9am–5pm. We aim to be with you within an hour.

Which key does the car take?

We'll only use your details to reply. Keys are only made for the owner or registered keeper, so we'll ask to see the V5C and photo ID at the car.

04 · Lost keys

Lost your keys? Do this now.

  1. 01Check the obvious twice: coat pockets, the car's footwells and boot, the last shop you were in.
  2. 02If the keys may have been stolen, or were lost with anything showing your address, report it to the police on 101 and tell your insurer.
  3. 03Don't buy a second-hand key online: a used key usually can't be reprogrammed to another car.
  4. 04Find the V5C logbook and your driving licence. We'll need to see both.
  5. 05Send us the reg, or call. New keys are programmed at the car and the lost ones are removed from its memory, so if someone finds them, they can't use them.

06 · Keys

Keys we work with.

Every car is checked against its registration before we quote, so you'll know before we travel whether we can make and program a key for yours.
  • Transponder keys

A metal blade with a chip in the head that the car reads before it will start. Most cars from the late 1990s on.

  • Remote keys

A bladed key with lock and unlock buttons. The remote and the immobiliser chip are programmed separately.

  • Flip keys

Remote keys whose blade folds into the fob. Blades and cases wear, but the electronics usually carry on.

  • Keyless and push-start

Proximity fobs that stay in your pocket. The car finds the fob by radio, which is also what relay thieves exploit.

  • Laser-cut blades

High-security blades with a groove milled along the side rather than notches on the edge.

  • Blade-only keys

Older or simpler keys with no chip or remote, and spare blades for the door lock of a keyless car.

07 · Before we arrive

What we'll need to see.

A key programmed to a car can start it, so we only make or program keys for the owner or registered keeper, and only once we've seen the paperwork. It's the check you'd want if it were your car and someone else was asking.
  • V5C logbook

Or another document naming you as the registered keeper, such as a finance or lease agreement for the car.

  • Photo ID

Driving licence or passport, with a name and address that match the ownership document.

  • Registration and VIN

The reg is enough to start. The 17-digit VIN (bottom of the windscreen, or on the V5C) lets us confirm exactly which key the car takes.

Before you enquire

Questions, answered.

01What happens if I've lost all my keys?

You'll need proof of ownership, such as the V5C logbook, and photo ID. We gain entry without damage where needed, program new keys to the car with dedicated key equipment, and remove the lost keys from the car's memory so they no longer work.

02What is non-destructive entry?

Opening a locked vehicle with specialist automotive tools, without damaging the locks, doors or glass. It's carried out by an accredited auto locksmith, and only for the owner or keeper once ownership is confirmed.

03How much will it cost?

Every job is priced against the exact vehicle and the work needed, so there's no one-size price list. Send the make, model and year and you'll get a fixed quote before anything is booked.

04Will my insurance cover lost keys?

Some policies include key cover, or it's an add-on. Check your policy, and ask us for an itemised invoice for the claim.

05My keys were stolen. What should I do first?

Report it to the police on 101 and tell your insurer. Then get the stolen keys removed from the car's memory as soon as possible: until they are, whoever has them can open and start the car.

06Can you program a key I've bought online?

Sometimes, but ask first. Many keys sold online are used and already locked to another car, or aren't the right chip for yours, and a key that can't be programmed can't be sent back once it's cut. Tell us the listing and the car and we'll say whether it's worth buying.

07Could it just be the battery?

Often it is, for a remote that won't lock or unlock. Try a new battery first: the type is printed on the old one, commonly a CR2032 or CR2025. If the car won't start with the key, a battery in the fob is less likely to be the cause.
