Car Key & Fob Repair

Cracked case, worn-out buttons, a snapped blade or a remote that's stopped working? Many keys can be repaired rather than replaced, keeping the electronics you already have.
  • Fully insured
  • IMI Master Auto Locksmith
  • IMI CANBUS immobiliser fitting
  • Approved fitter: CAN-Phantom · Pandora · Scorpion · Meta Trak

01 · Is this you?

Sounds familiar?

  • The case is cracked or held together with tape
  • The rubber buttons have worn through
  • The blade has snapped or bent
  • The remote works intermittently, or not at all with a new battery

Most of what goes wrong with a key is the outside: the case, the buttons, the blade. The chip and the circuit board inside usually carry on working, so they can be moved into a new case and the key keeps working with the car as before.

Send us a photo of the key on WhatsApp and we'll tell you whether it can be repaired, and what it will cost, before anyone travels.

02 · Quick quote

A key quote in a minute.

Your reg, the kind of key and what's happened. We'll check what your car needs and call or text you back with a fixed price.

Call-outs Mon–Sat 9am–5pm. We aim to be with you within an hour.

Which key does the car take?

We'll only use your details to reply. Keys are only made for the owner or registered keeper, so we'll ask to see the V5C and photo ID at the car.

03 · How it works

How it works.

  1. 01

    Send a photo

A photo of the key and the car's reg, on WhatsApp or the form.

  2. 02

    Repair or replace

We say whether it can be repaired and quote for it, or for a new key if it can't.

  3. 03

    Repaired and tested

The chip and board go into a new case or blade, and the key is tested on the car.

04 · What's covered

What can be repaired.

  • Cases and shells

Cracked or broken cases replaced, with the electronics moved across.

  • Buttons

Worn rubber buttons, usually by fitting a new case.

  • Blades

Snapped or bent blades cut new to match the car.

  • Batteries

Fob batteries replaced and the remote checked.

05 · Before we start

What we'll need to see.

A key programmed to a car can start it, so we only make or program keys for the owner or registered keeper, and only once we've seen the paperwork. It's the check you'd want if it were your car and someone else was asking.
  • V5C logbook

Or another document naming you as the registered keeper, such as a finance or lease agreement for the car.

  • Photo ID

Driving licence or passport, with a name and address that match the ownership document.

  • Registration and VIN

The reg is enough to start. The 17-digit VIN (bottom of the windscreen, or on the V5C) lets us confirm exactly which key the car takes.

06 · Cost

A fixed price, first.

The price depends on the car and the key it takes, so it's worked out for yours: send the reg, or the make, model and year, and you'll get a fixed quote before anything is booked.

If you're claiming on insurance or key cover, ask for an itemised invoice with the vehicle details on it.

Before you enquire

Questions, answered.

01My key went through the wash. Can it be saved?

Sometimes. Take the battery out, dry the key and don't press the buttons. Then send us a photo: if the board is damaged, the key may need replacing and programming instead.

Send the basics. We will check compatibility and contact you by your preferred method—no open calendar and no obligation.

This sends an enquiry, not a confirmed booking. Vehicle compatibility is checked first. See our privacy notice.
