Locked Out of Your Car

Keys locked in the car or the boot, or a lock that won't turn? The car is opened with specialist entry tools, without damaging the locks, doors or glass.
  • Fully insured
  • IMI Master Auto Locksmith
  • IMI CANBUS immobiliser fitting
  • Approved fitter: CAN-Phantom · Pandora · Scorpion · Meta Trak

01 · Is this you?

Sounds familiar?

  • Keys locked inside the car or the boot
  • The central locking won't respond and the key won't turn the lock
  • A flat car battery has left a keyless car locked
  • The key is lost and the car needs opening before new keys are made

A broken window usually costs more to put right than opening the car properly, and forcing a door can damage the lock and the seals. Non-destructive entry opens the car the way it was designed to be opened, with specialist automotive tools and no damage.

It's the one job where the ownership check matters most, so before we open anything we'll ask to see proof that the car is yours. If the logbook is inside the car, tell us: you can show it once the door is open, before we leave.

02 · Quick quote

A key quote in a minute.

Your reg, the kind of key and what's happened. We'll check what your car needs and call or text you back with a fixed price.

Call-outs Mon–Sat 9am–5pm. We aim to be with you within an hour.

Which key does the car take?

We'll only use your details to reply. Keys are only made for the owner or registered keeper, so we'll ask to see the V5C and photo ID at the car.

03 · How it works

How it works.

  1. 01

    Tell us where you are

The car's reg, make and model, and where it's parked. Stay somewhere safe while you wait.

  2. 02

    Ownership

Photo ID first, and the V5C logbook, or another document showing you're the keeper.

  3. 03

    Opened without damage

Specialist entry tools open the lock or the door, without drilling or forcing it.

  4. 04

    Anything else

If a key is lost or the locking has failed, we'll say what's needed and quote for it before doing it.

04 · Before we start

What we'll need to see.

A key programmed to a car can start it, so we only make or program keys for the owner or registered keeper, and only once we've seen the paperwork. It's the check you'd want if it were your car and someone else was asking.
  • V5C logbook

Or another document naming you as the registered keeper, such as a finance or lease agreement for the car.

  • Photo ID

Driving licence or passport, with a name and address that match the ownership document.

  • Registration and VIN

The reg is enough to start. The 17-digit VIN (bottom of the windscreen, or on the V5C) lets us confirm exactly which key the car takes.

05 · Cost

A fixed price, first.

The price depends on the car and the key it takes, so it's worked out for yours: send the reg, or the make, model and year, and you'll get a fixed quote before anything is booked.

If you're claiming on insurance or key cover, ask for an itemised invoice with the vehicle details on it.

Before you enquire

Questions, answered.

01What is non-destructive entry?

Opening a locked vehicle with specialist automotive tools, without damaging the locks, doors or glass. It's carried out by an accredited auto locksmith, and only for the owner or keeper once ownership is confirmed.

02There's a child or an animal locked in the car.

Call 999 now. The emergency services will get into the car faster than anyone can travel to it, and that's what they're there for.

03Will it damage the car?

No. Non-destructive entry uses tools made for opening vehicle locks, so there's no drilling, forcing or broken glass. We'll tell you before starting if a particular car needs a different approach.
