Yamaha Motorcycle Alarm and Tracker Fitting in Stafford

Motorbike alarms and trackers for Yamaha riders in Stafford: the Datatool LFA alarm, Datatool Stealth S5 and Meta Trak DEFCOM TRAK, fitted at the bike.

Whether it's a commuter scooter, a sports bike or an adventure tourer, a Yamaha is light enough to be lifted, wheeled or loaded into a van in a way no car ever could be. For riders around Stafford, Stone and Eccleshall, that's the main thing to understand about bike security. A car thief needs the engine to start; a bike thief often doesn't. So the right protection for a motorcycle is a mix of noise at the bike and monitoring if it goes.

The local picture

Motorcycle theft figures are published for police forces rather than towns. The latest monthly figures, from Police National Computer data compiled by Retainagroup, show 1,770 powered two-wheeler thefts across the UK in August 2026, down 171 on August 2025. Next door to Staffordshire, West Midlands Police recorded 79 that month, the fourth highest of any force (Bennetts BikeSocial, September 2026).

The longer trend has been downward. The Motorcycle Industry Association reported that thefts in the first eight months of 2024 were down 7.9% year on year, and more than 20% below 2017 levels (MCIA, October 2024). That's progress, but bikes are still taken every day, and Staffordshire borders one of the busiest force areas for bike theft in the country.

How bikes are usually taken

We'll keep this general. Unlike cars, motorcycles are often simply moved: lifted, pushed or loaded into another vehicle rather than ridden away. That's why a tracker's movement detection and an alarm's tilt and tamper sensing matter more on a bike than clever key technology does. A good disc lock and chain still have their place, and the electronics sit alongside them.

What we'd fit to a Yamaha

Datatool LFA Alarm: make noise at the bike

The Datatool LFA Alarm is from Datatool, Scorpion's motorcycle brand:

  • Thatcham Category 2-1 motorcycle alarm and immobiliser
  • 118dB piezo siren, with a waterproof LED and battery backup
  • Anti-tamper circuit, plus transport and storage modes
  • Personal key fob, and a find-your-bike indicator flash
  • No subscription

Datatool Stealth S5: monitored tracking with rider recognition

The Datatool Stealth S5 is a Thatcham S5 motorcycle tracker:

  • Automatic rider recognition tag, so the bike is flagged if it moves without you
  • Monitored 24/7 by Vehicle Recovery Specialists, who coordinate with the police
  • GPS, Galileo and GLONASS positioning, with European coverage
  • The Datatool app: live location, journey history, battery status and a privacy mode that only Datatool can lift during a theft
  • Subscription: from £119 a year, or £549 for life (Datatool's published prices)

Meta Trak DEFCOM TRAK: alarm and tracker in one

The Meta Trak DEFCOM TRAK combines Category S7 tracking with a Category 2-1 alarm, monitored 24/7 with dedicated stolen-motorcycle support. It's an alarm and tracker rather than an immobiliser, and the subscription is confirmed with your quote.

S5 or S7 on a bike?

As with cars, your insurer's wording decides. S7 is monitored tracking. S5 adds rider recognition, so the monitoring team knows straight away if the bike moves without your tag. The LFA plus Stealth S5 gives you an alarm and S5 tracking; DEFCOM TRAK gives you an alarm and S7 tracking in one unit. Our S5 or S7 guide explains how to read your policy.

We confirm compatibility for your exact Yamaha model and year before quoting.

Motorbike FAQs

Can you fit it where I keep the bike?

Yes. We come to the bike at your home, whether it's in the garage or on the drive. You'll get a time estimate with your quote.

Will my insurer accept it?

It depends on the policy wording. If they've asked for a particular category, send it to us and we'll match the system to it. We can't promise an insurance outcome, because the insurer decides.

Can I stop the tracker recording where I ride?

The Stealth S5 has a privacy mode, which only Datatool can lift during a theft. Meta Trak's app also has privacy mode.
