Touring Caravan Tracker and Caravan Alarm Fitting in Stafford

Caravan trackers and alarms fitted in Stafford, Stone and Eccleshall: the Meta Trak S7 Caravan tracker and Scorpion S50 alarm, at home or on site.

A touring caravan spends most of its life parked. Around Stafford, Stone, Eccleshall and Gnosall, that usually means a driveway, a farm yard or a storage site for months at a time between trips. Nobody is inside it, and it's built to be hitched up and towed away quickly. That's what makes it useful, and it's also why caravan security works differently from car security. There's no engine to immobilise, so the job is to make tampering noisy and to know straight away if it moves.

The local picture

There are no current official totals for caravan theft: CRiS, the National Caravan Council's caravan register, offers advice for owners but publishes no theft figures. The wider picture for the area is calmer than the West Midlands conurbation, with Staffordshire Police recording 4.15 vehicle offences per 1,000 people in the year to March 2026, 19th of 43 forces (ONS police force area data tables). That measure is about road vehicles, though, and a caravan has its own pattern: spring is when it comes out of storage and gets ready to travel, and the months it sits unchecked are when a theft is least likely to be noticed.

Why caravans are at risk

Keeping this general: a caravan doesn't need to be started, only hitched and towed. It's often left for weeks without anyone checking it, so a theft can go unnoticed until the owner next visits. That's the gap a monitored tracker closes.

What we'd fit to a touring caravan

Meta Trak S7 Caravan tracker

The Meta Trak S7 Caravan is built for caravans:

  • Thatcham S7, insurance approved
  • Advanced movement detection, so the caravan leaving without you is spotted
  • Monitored 24/7, with dedicated stolen-caravan support
  • The Meta Trak app, with live location, alerts, geofences and privacy mode
  • No tag to carry
  • Subscription: £119.95 a year, or £329.95 for 3 years (Meta Trak's published prices, VAT included, excluding the device and fitting)

S7 means the tracker is monitored around the clock and the team works with the police once a theft is reported. S5 trackers add driver-recognition tags, which makes sense for something you drive. For a caravan, the S7 Caravan is Meta Trak's dedicated model. If your insurer's wording asks for something different, send it to us first. Our S5 or S7 guide explains how to read it.

Scorpion S50 Caravan Alarm

A tracker helps get the caravan back. An alarm is there to put someone off in the first place. The Scorpion S50 Caravan Alarm has:

  • Triaxial tilt and movement sensing
  • A wireless PIR motion sensor inside
  • A 118dB siren with a backup battery
  • Night and pet modes
  • Two four-button remotes
  • No subscription

Scorpion doesn't state a Thatcham category for the S50, so if your insurer asks for a Thatcham-rated alarm, tell us and we'll look at the wording with you.

Using both

The two do different jobs. The alarm makes noise at the caravan; the tracker watches where it goes. Fitting both covers both jobs, but whether it's worth it depends on how and where the caravan is stored. We'll talk it through before quoting.

Caravan tracker FAQs

Can you fit it where my caravan is stored?

Yes. We come to the caravan, at home or on a storage site, as long as we can get access to it. Check with the site about access before we book.

Does the subscription pass on if I sell the caravan?

Meta Trak's terms say subscriptions aren't refundable and don't pass to a new owner. It's worth knowing if you're thinking of changing caravans soon.

Is there anything else I should do?

Keep a record of your caravan's details. CRiS, the National Caravan Council's register, has advice on what to do if a caravan is stolen. Staffordshire Police also publish vehicle theft prevention advice.

Protect your caravan before the season

Tell us the caravan's make, model and year, where it's stored, and whether your insurer has asked for a tracker. We'll confirm what fits and give you a fixed quote before anything is booked. Get a quote, see our work in Stafford, or read more about vehicle trackers.
